Canva vs Season for Instagram posts

Canva gives you full control to design every post yourself, and far more than Instagram. Season designs, writes and publishes your Instagram posts for you. It comes down to time versus control.

Who should pick which

Pick Canva if

  • You enjoy designing and want control over every photo, font and pixel.
  • You design more than Instagram posts: Canva covers more than 1,000 design types.
  • You want a free plan, or one design tool for your whole team.
  • You have time each week to make your posts yourself.

Pick Season if

  • You don’t want to open an editor every week.
  • You want posts designed and written in your brand’s style, then published for you.
  • You want carousels published automatically; Canva’s Help Center says its Instagram scheduling doesn’t support galleries.
  • You use an Instagram Creator account; Canva’s Help Center says its Instagram scheduling needs a Business account.

Where Season is different

  • No editor, no templates to fill

Season reads your Instagram profile, website, photos, PDFs and Pinterest boards, builds your palette, fonts and voice, and designs each post from them. Your job is to approve.

  • Words included

Every post comes with its caption, written in your brand’s voice, and the text on the image, so nothing waits on you before it can go out.

  • Planned and published for you

Season plans a whole season of posts at once (3 months by default) and publishes them through Instagram’s official connection, with professional accounts, Business or Creator.

  • Two minutes a week

Every Saturday, a preview of the coming week. Skip a post or change it in one line; if you don’t answer, the week goes out as planned.

What Season doesn’t do

  • Less creative control: you approve and adjust posts, you don’t design them pixel by pixel.
  • Instagram only, and feed posts and carousels only: no Reels, Stories or video.
  • Season makes Instagram posts, not menus, flyers or other designs.
  • No free plan, and the trial needs a card.

Questions

Can Canva schedule Instagram posts?

Yes, on paid plans, with the Content Planner. Canva’s Help Center says you need an Instagram Business account, not a Creator account, that you can schedule single images or videos, up to 25 in a rolling 24 hours, and that galleries, Stories and Reels can’t be scheduled.

Is Season a Canva alternative?

For Instagram posts, yes: Season designs them, writes the captions and publishes them, so you don’t open an editor each week. For everything else you design, Canva is still the tool.

How much does Canva Pro cost compared with Season?

On Oct 10, 2026, Canva’s pricing page showed Pro at US$144 a year for one person, before tax, as seen from the US; Canva shows prices by region. Season is $39 a month, or $99 every 3 months ($33 a month), and the posts are designed, written and published for you.

Do I lose control over my posts with Season?

You approve every week before it goes out, can skip any post and can change one in a line, like ‘use a photo of the dough’. What you give up is designing each post yourself, which is exactly the part Season is for.
