The best AI tools for an online store’s Instagram in 2026

Eight AI tools that help an online store run its Instagram in 2026: what each does with your products, who it’s for, its price and limits, and how to choose.

An online store has an advantage on Instagram that a café or a salon doesn’t: its catalog. Product photos, names, prices, variants and descriptions are already written down, and an AI tool can turn them into posts. Which tool does that well depends on what you want off your plate: the words, the design, the posting, or all three.

This is a roundup of eight tools that a store can use for its Instagram, across five kinds: caption writers, design tools, schedulers, Shopify apps that post your products, and services that make and post everything. They’re grouped by kind, not ranked. Every price and feature below was read on the tool’s own site or its Shopify App Store listing on Oct 13, 2026, with the billing toggle it belongs to. Prices change, so check the page before you buy. Season, our own product, is one of the eight, in its own section with its limits.

If you want the background first (what AI does well, what it still gets wrong, and how a tool should connect to your account), read can an AI social media manager run your Instagram?. This page is the shopping list.

Caption writers: words from your catalog

Shopify Sidekick

What it does for a store. Sidekick is the AI assistant inside your Shopify admin. Among its suggested prompts, Shopify lists “Create social media content for my products”, and its help center says it can also generate images from a text prompt. It works inside the same admin where your products live.

Who it’s for. Owners on Shopify who write their own posts and want a first draft of the caption.

Price. Shopify says “Sidekick is included with your Shopify plan. Features and usage limits vary by plan.”

Limits. It drafts. Shopify’s page doesn’t say it posts or schedules to Instagram or any other network, so the plan, the design and the posting stay with you.

Design tools with AI: you stay the designer

Canva

What it does for a store. Canva is a design editor with templates, Brand Kits and AI tools. Pro includes “AI tools (resize, translate, remove background, and more)”, 5 Brand Kits and social content scheduling. For a store, the background remover is the one to know: it lets you put a product shot on your brand color.

Who it’s for. Owners who like designing, want full control over every post, and design more than Instagram (emails, flyers, packaging inserts).

Price. Free plan with up to 20 AI uses and 1 Brand Kit with 3 colors. Pro is US$144 a year for one person on the yearly view; the page has a monthly toggle too.

Limits. You still make every post. Canva’s help center says scheduling to Instagram needs “an Instagram Business account – not an Instagram Creator account”, schedules single image or video posts only, and can’t schedule Stories or Reels. We compared the two in Canva vs Season.

Schedulers with AI: you bring the posts, they publish them

Later

What it does for a store. Later is a visual Instagram planner. Its AI Caption Writer is there to “instantly generate on-brand captions for your Instagram posts”, one credit per caption. Every plan has a Link in Bio page, and the Growth and Scale plans include Instagram Product Tagging: “Tag products from your Instagram Shop when scheduling Instagram posts and reels.” That’s rare among the tools on this page, and it needs an approved Instagram Shop that’s still eligible for tagging. Test it with your own shop during the trial.

Who it’s for. Stores that make their own photos and videos, post Reels, and want product tags and a link in bio in one place.

Price. Starter is $18.75 a month, billed yearly, with 5 AI credits a month and up to 30 posts per profile a month; Growth is $37.50 and Scale $82.50, billed yearly. The page’s monthly toggle costs more (its FAQ says yearly saves 25%). 14-day free trial.

Limits. AI writes the captions; the photos, designs and plan are yours. Product tagging and approvals start on Growth. More in Later vs Season.

Buffer

What it does for a store. A simple scheduler for many networks, with an AI Assistant to “refine and repurpose your content”. Useful when the same product launch goes to Instagram, Facebook and Pinterest.

Who it’s for. Stores on a budget that write their own posts and want them out on several networks.

Price. Free for up to 3 channels and 10 scheduled posts per channel. Essentials is $5 a month per channel, billed yearly ($60 a year per channel); Team is $10 a month per channel, billed yearly ($120 a year per channel). Both cost more on the monthly toggle. 14-day free trial on paid plans.

Limits. No designs from your catalog: you bring the images. Automatic publishing works for Instagram business and creator accounts, not personal ones. See Buffer vs Season.

Shopify apps that post your products

Outfy

What it does for a store. Outfy connects to your Shopify catalog and posts your products automatically. Every plan includes an AI Studio for images, videos and ads, and the paid plans add “Multilingual AI Captions & Hashtags” and Reels, videos and collages. It can “Automatically skip sold-out products”, which matters when a post goes out on its own.

Who it’s for. Stores with a large catalog that want a steady stream of product posts across Instagram, Facebook, TikTok, Pinterest and Threads with almost no setup.

Price. A free plan auto-posts 1 product per day per network to Instagram, Facebook and Pinterest, with template captions. Essential is $25 a month or $210 a year, Growth $45 a month or $378 a year, Unlimited $55 a month or $462 a year, each with a 7-day free trial.

Limits. A feed made only of products reads like a catalog. You’ll still want posts about fit, care, the making and the shipping, and those you write yourself. Look at a week of what it makes from your own products before you turn it on. For a comparison of the ways to auto-post from Shopify, see our guide to Instagram for Shopify stores.

AI post makers that read your store

Predis.ai

What it does for a store. Predis.ai makes social content from your products. Its Shopify app says it can “Create ads, UGC videos, AI video ads, product videos, posts, and carousels from your products”, and its Auto Post feature “creates a full week of posts, captions, images, reels, carousels in your brand voice” and publishes them on schedule.

Who it’s for. Stores that want video and ads as well as posts, on several networks, and are happy to pick and edit what the AI makes.

Price. On the Shopify App Store, Core is $32 a month, or $288 a year; Rise is $79 a month, or $664 a year. On Predis.ai’s own pricing page, the same yearly plans show as $24 and $55 a month, billed yearly. Every plan starts with 3 days free, and Predis.ai takes a card to start the trial.

Limits. Core says “No Auto Posting”: automatic publishing starts on Rise, which auto-publishes up to 60 posts a month. Each plan comes with a monthly allowance of credits (1,300 on Core). More in Predis.ai vs Season.

Done for you: plan, design and post

Apaya

What it does for a store. Paste your store’s address and Apaya “crawls every product page, collection, and about section”, then writes and designs posts for launches, restocks, seasonal sales and lifestyle content, with graphics made from your photos and brand assets. You can review and approve before anything goes live, or let it run. It publishes to Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn, X and more, and formats content for Instagram Reels.

Who it’s for. Stores that want the whole job done on several networks.

Price. Spark is $55 a month billed annually ($662 a year) for 1 brand and 4 social accounts; the ecommerce page says monthly billing is also available. Blaze is $103 and Supernova $183 a month billed annually. 3-day free trial.

Limits. Three days is a short trial to judge a month of posts. The pricing page says you can review, edit and publish posts yourself, but lists the Workflow Engine, structured team workflows for reviewing and approving posts, on Supernova only. If someone else signs off on your posts, ask how that works on Spark before you pick it.

Season

What it does for a store. Season does one job: your store’s Instagram. Paste your store’s address and it reads your products, photos and prices from Shopify and WooCommerce stores, and from other store sites when their product pages can be read. It builds your palette, fonts and voice, offers three looks and topics made for your store, then plans 3 months of posts, designs and writes them, and publishes them at set times through Instagram’s official API. Every Saturday you see the coming week in about 2 minutes: skip a post or change it with the AI chat, and if you don’t answer, the week goes out as planned. Posts say “new”, “bestseller” or “back in stock” only when your store does.

Who it’s for. Stores whose main channel is Instagram, that want a planned, on-brand feed without designing or scheduling anything.

Price. On the pricing page.

Limits. Instagram only. Feed posts and carousels, no Reels, Stories or video. No product tags today. No comments or messages, light stats, and no free plan.

How to choose, by situation

You like making posts and just need help with the words. Use Sidekick inside Shopify, or the caption writer in your scheduler. Free or close to it.

You like designing and want every pixel to be yours. Canva, with a Brand Kit and your product photos. Pair it with a scheduler, or use Canva’s own if you have a Business account and post single images.

You make your own photos and Reels, and want product tags. Later’s Growth plan: AI captions, Link in Bio and Instagram Product Tagging in one place, once your store is approved for Instagram Shopping.

You post on many networks on a small budget. Buffer’s free plan, then Essentials per channel.

You have hundreds of products and want them posted with no effort. A Shopify app like Outfy. Add a few posts of your own each week so the feed isn’t only products.

You want video and ads made from your products. Predis.ai, on Rise if you want it to publish by itself.

You want the whole job done. Apaya if you need several networks. Season if Instagram is your channel and you’d rather approve a planned season of posts in your own look once a week. If you’d rather have people make every post, human services exist too: 99 Dollar Social charges $99 a month for 10 posts on one channel, with no free trial and a 14-day money-back guarantee.

Whatever you pick, three checks before you pay:

  • It connects the official way. Instagram’s API only works with professional accounts, business or creator, and you log in on Instagram’s or Facebook’s own screen. A tool that asks for your password is one to skip.
  • It knows what it can’t do. Meta’s publishing guide says “Shopping tags are not supported” through content publishing, so most auto-posting tools publish without product tags.
  • Its facts are yours. Prices, stock and “new” should come from your store, not the model’s guesses. Test two weeks of posts made from your own catalog and count the fixes.

To weigh any of these against hiring help, the social media cost calculator does the math from your own hours.

Questions

What’s the best AI tool for an online store’s Instagram?

It depends on which part of the work you want gone. If you only need words, Shopify’s Sidekick or a scheduler’s caption writer is enough. If you like designing, Canva. If you want product posts going out on their own, a Shopify app like Outfy. If you want the whole feed planned, designed and posted, a done-for-you tool.

Is there a free AI tool for my store’s Instagram?

Yes, with limits. Sidekick is included with Shopify plans, Canva Free has up to 20 AI uses, Buffer’s free plan (up to 3 channels) includes its AI Assistant, and Outfy’s free plan auto-posts one product a day per network with template captions. None of them plans and designs a whole feed for you.

Can an AI tool post to my store’s Instagram automatically?

Yes, through Instagram’s official API, which only works with professional accounts (business or creator). Check the plan, though: Predis.ai’s Core plan says No Auto Posting, and Canva only schedules to Instagram Business accounts. You log in on Instagram’s or Facebook’s own screen; a tool should never ask for your password.

Will an AI tool tag my products on Instagram?

Usually not. Meta’s content publishing guide says shopping tags aren’t supported, and tagging needs an approved Instagram Shop and a separate setup. Among the tools here, only Later’s pricing page lists Instagram Product Tagging, on its Growth and Scale plans.

Can these tools make Reels for my store?

Some can. Predis.ai makes product videos and AI video ads, and Outfy’s paid plans make videos and collages and can post Reels. Canva can’t schedule Reels to Instagram, though you can share them from its mobile apps. Done-for-you tools differ: ask whether they make video or only feed posts and carousels.
